NCR (Non-Conformance Report)
A formal record that work does not conform to the specification, drawings or approved procedure. It carries containment, root cause, a disposition, and verified closure — which is what separates it from a complaint.
The disposition is the part that matters and the part that gets rushed: rework it, repair it, accept it as-is with a concession, or reject and replace. Each has cost and liability consequences, and "use as is" in particular is a decision somebody must be authorised to make and willing to sign.
And an NCR without a verified closure is not an NCR. It is a complaint with a reference number, and it will still be open at handover, when it becomes somebody else’s problem at ten times the price.
