Toolbox Talk
A short, task-specific safety briefing delivered to a crew before work — ideally daily, on the hazards of the job actually about to be done, rather than a generic topic read from a laminated card.
The evidence that daily talks reduce recordable injuries is genuinely good, and it is set out with its sources on our toolbox-meetings module page. What it rests on is specificity: a talk about the hazards of today’s task, in the language the crew speaks.
Which is where most programmes fail. A generic topic, read aloud, in a language a third of the crew does not use at home, signed by everybody and understood by nobody. The attendance sheet is complete and the control does not exist.
