LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate)
Lost-time injuries per million hours worked — the metric preferred outside the US, and the one most GCC clients ask for. Same lagging weakness as TRIR, with a different denominator.
The practical consequence of the two conventions coexisting is that numbers get compared that should not be. A TRIR of 2.2 and an LTIFR of 2.2 are not the same thing, and a contractor quoting one to a client expecting the other is producing a number that means nothing.
Whichever you use, use it as a comparison rather than a target — and read it alongside a leading indicator, because both TRIR and LTIFR can only tell you about a site’s past.
