Superseded Drawing
A document that has been replaced by a later revision and must no longer be used. It is one of the most expensive objects on a construction site, because it looks exactly like a current drawing.
Nothing about a superseded drawing announces itself. It is correctly titled, properly stamped, professionally drawn, and wrong. Somebody builds from it, and the rework is discovered when a trade that did have the current revision arrives and finds the wall in the wrong place.
Which is why withdrawal is an active step, not a passive one. Issuing a new revision does not remove the old one from a site office, a laptop, or a subcontractor’s inbox. The register and the transmittal are what make withdrawal real.
